John Gibbons of Sackville Street, Daniel Moore of Queen Street Westminster and Edward Clark of London were shown as the co-owners, together with Captain Robert Manley, of a ship under letters of marque named the New Elizabeth in 1757, commander Robert Manley. This ship, under Robert Manley (jr) made a slaving voyage from London to Cape Coast Castle and Barbados in 1760 for which no ownership is currently known. There is no evidence to date that the three named owners in 1757 other than Manley were the co-owners of the slaving voyage, but John Gibbons (c. 1717-1776) the MP for Stockbridge 1754-1761 and Wallingford 1761-1768, had been for many years also a member of the Assembly in Barbados, where his family held extensive land and several hundred enslaved people. This is a very tentative association only.
