John Hyde with William Snelling was a co-owner alongside the South Sea Co. in a slaving voyage by the Bonita to West Central Africa and Buenos Aires in 1725, and could have been either John Hyde of Poplar (q.v.) or – more likely – his son, John Hyde of Charterhouse Square; the ‘John Hydes’ [sic] shown as co-owner alongside Samuel Hydes [sic] in a slaving voyage by the Bonetta [sic] to West Central Africa and Charleston in 1735 was the son, John Hyde of Charterhouse Square. John Hyde jun. was a director of the London Assurance in 1722 with William Snelling.
