Richard Gildart (1671 – 1770) was a Liverpool merchant and member of the African Company of Merchants who participated in nineteen slave trading voyages between 1714 and 1761 that transported 4818 captives from Africa to the Caribbean and North America. His other commercial interests included property ownership in Liverpool and Lancashire, shipping, rock salt manufacture, and Atlantic trade in tobacco and sugar. Gildart was Mayor of Liverpool in 1714, 1731 and 1736, and served as MP for Liverpool between 1734 and 1754.
