John Hardman (1694 – 1756) was a Liverpool merchant and member of the African Company of Merchants who participated in forty-two slave trading voyages between 1728 and 1762 that transported 11785 captives from Africa to the Caribbean and North America. His other commercial interests included trade to Holland, West Africa, Caribbean and North America. They were also a major landowner who owned the Manor in Allerton and further properties in Great Woolton, Garston, Aigburth, Grassendale, Childwall, and Liverpool. Hardman was a regular representative for Liverpool to the Board of Trade and served as MP for Liverpool between 1754 and 1756.
