P_10433_0385 – Isaac Mendez
Isaac Mendez was shown as the co-owner of a slaving voyage from London to Africa and St John Antigua by the Abraham and Moses in 1700. One year earlier the same ship under the same captain had made a slaving voyage from London to Barbados with Abraham Mendez (q.v.) as co-owner. Although the Mendez or Mendes family has not been fully disentangled, the co-owner in 1700 appears likely to have been Isaac Mendez the brother of Abraham Mendez senior: the will of this Isaac Mendez was proved in 1728.

Will of Isaac Mendes of St Mary Hill made 11/10/1728. He left £3000 at 21 for his daughter Deborah then about 10 years of age, and £120 p.a. for her maintenance until 15 and then £180 p.a. thereafter. He also set penalties should she marry her cousins, sons of Abraham Mendes, or two men named de Medina. He left property [the will does not mention that this included enslaved people] in Barbados.
