Thomas Shakle was the co-owner (with shifting groups of partners, including James Waite, Houlditch and Brook, and William Lone) of six voyages from London between 1701 and 1708, of which four were to Calabar or New Calabar and four were destined for Virginia and Maryland. Three of the voyages were in the Dolphin. Thomas Shakle was a pewterer apparently oriented towards export markets, including Scandinavia, Russia and Jamaica. Thomas Shakle senior pewterer of London was bankrupt by 1710.
