3.1 million enslaved people trafficked to the British colonies

John Mayhew was co-owner with Anthony Tournay (q.v.) of two slaving voyages for London by the Prosperous in 1707 to Gambia and Maryland and in 1710 to Calabar and Virginia: a third voyage from London by the Prosperous in 1711 for which no further information is known is shown for Henry [sic] Mayhew and Daniel Jamineau (q.v.).  John Mayhew was party with Richard Hinton (the master on the 3 voyages associated with Henry or John Mayhew) to a suit in 1721. He was possibly the linendraper of London whose will was proved in 1726, although the will offers no evidence of a link.
