Will of Sherman Godfrey of Walthamstow made 21/09/1724 with an addition of 21/10/1724. He left his house at Walthamstow to his wife Mary, and £200. He gave £100 each to six of his children [later in the will described as by his first wife Margaret]. He left his house at Limehouse to his daughter Martha together with £800 (and land in use as a ropewalk), but not the stock in trade, which he left to his wife given that she intended to continue in partnership with their son Sherman. He gave his 1/16th share in the ship Montague to his son [presumably son-in-law] John Gordon, and to his daughter Gordon his two houses at Cock Hill, two houses at Broad Street and houses in the occupation of Mr Brazier, all in Ratcliffe. He gave his son[-in-law] John Greaves his 1/16th share in the ship Craggs [?sp] and his daughter Greaves his ground rents in Shadwell. He left his sons William and Edward his east at Stepney Town, failing whom it was to go to his daughter [Mrs] Woodford.
