P_10433_0591 – John McCullom (junior)
John McCullom (1772-1849), of Bristol and then of London. ‘John McCullum’ was owner of two slaving voyages from London by the Aurora to Cape Coast Castle and St Lucia in 1805 and to the Gold Coast and Jamaica arriving in 1807. John McCullom junior had a slaving voyage from Bristol in 1802, in the same ship (and in the one case, the same captain) as the London voyages. We have tentatively concluded that the owner was the same man in all three voyages. The nature of John McCullom junior’s business in London has not yet been identified, but the will of his wife Mary Duncan showed substantial assets under their marriage settlement of 1820.
