The will of William Malthus of Bedford Street made 16/11/1700. He asked to be buried at the parish church of St Gyles at Redding [sic] in Berkshire next to his wife Elizabeth. He left his present wife Martha her paraphernalia, she having disclaimed under their marriage settlement any further right to his estate. He made his kinsman William Malthus son of Thomas Malthus his main heir at 21, leaving him his shares in ships, and his freehold land for life. He left his residual estate to support ten poor boys at the 'Blewcoat' school at Reading.
