Co-owner alongside Richard Harris of a slaving voyage from London by the Mermaid to the Gold Coast and Jamaica in 1712. He has not been traced to date. William Mackley distiller of London in his will proved 1702 identified a son William. A William Mackley of Magpye [sic] Yard was buried at St Andrew Holborn in 1745. The will of Thomas Mackley, a slave-ship captain with three voyages for the RAC from London and one from Jamaica for Peter Beckford et al. between 1703 and 1710, proved in 1712, identified his father as John Mackley Citizen and Merchant Taylor but has no reference to a William Mackley.
