Samuel Ongley was co-owner of a slaving voyage from London by the Martin Gally to the Gold Coast and Jamaica in 1707. There were three Samuel Ongleys fl. c. 1695. The slave trade investor was most probably Sir Samuel Ongley (1647-1726), MP for Maidstone between 1713 and 1715, who became a director of the South Sea Co. Pettigrew shows him as Sir Samuel Ongley.
