John Denew (fl. 1706-1731, will proved in 1737), co-owner with Houlditch and Brooke among others of two voyages by the Alexander for Alexander Gally from London, the first to Calabar and Jamaica in 1706 and the second to Africa and Patuxent in 1708. John Denew’s most significant asset at death appears to have been the soapworks built by his father James Denew in the parish of St Botolph, Aldgate.
