The will of William Arnald Citizen and Fishmonger of London was made in 1719. He ordered the sale of his interest in the manor at Bampton cum Wenham Devonshire and his other lands in Devonshire and Somerset to repay the mortgages and the overplus be divided among his four younger children, John, Elizabeth, Thomas and Michael, apparently [the wording of the will is unclear] capped at £500 each with the [second] overplus to be divided 2/5th to another son Robert, 2/5th to his daughter Ann and the remaining 1/5th to his son Brough, 'he already being advance by me.' He left real estate including the Ampthill estate at Flitwick in Bedfordshire to his wife Elizabeth for life with reversion to Robert and Ann. The administration of the will was taken by Thomas Woodroffe a creditor.
