3.1 million enslaved people trafficked to the British colonies

Co-owner of two slaving voyages from London, by the Prosperous in 1700 to Africa and Antigua and by the London Gally to Africa and the York River in 1704. The Prosperous made another voyage in 1701 when Richard Meriwether (q.v., given as Richard Merriweather) was among the owners, suggesting a connection between the two men.  A Marlborough Mereweather was buried 04/11/1736 at Weston All Saints Bath. No will has been found for Marlborough Merewether under any of the myriad variant spellings. The will of Jeffrey Meriweather of Hilperton Wiltshire proved 24/11/1718 identified Marlborough Meriweather as one of his nephews, sons of his late brother Edward Meriweather.
