Thomas Mead and Peregrine Browne (q.v.) were among the parties to litigation in 1706 with Nicholas Gellibrand, concerning a voyage by the Ann galley, in which the cargo included 8 ‘negroes’ [captive Africans]. Thomas Mead appears as a Director of the Royal African Co. in Pettigrew.
