P_10433_1115 – John Mudge
John Mudge was co-owner with Thomas Starke (q.v.) of a slaving voyage from London in 1699 by the Concorde to Bonny that was captured by the Portuguese after the captive African people had been embarked. Thomas Starke [who was a London merchant and major tobacco importer], John Mudge and others, owners of the Concord, had petitioned the Privy Council in 1692 for permission for a slaving voyage, when they positioned themselves as plantation- (and slave-) owners in Virginia. John Mudge has not been traced further.
