3.1 million enslaved people trafficked to the British colonies

Edward Jones was a co-owner of a slaving voyage from London by the Stepney in 1700 with an unknown outcome.  The will of his co-investor Robert Oxley (q.v.) of 1710 showed a Mr Jones as beneficiary of a legacy for a ring. An Edward Jones of Bristol co-owned two privateers in 1702 (the Olive Tree, with Abraham Elton among others) and 1710 (the Provis Galley); ships of the same names were slave-ships, the former from London in 1704-06 and the latter in 1713-15 from Bristol. An Edward Jones of London with John Mead was in litigation with Bartholomew Gracedieu (q.v.) in 1700. The records (1704-1725) of [Edward] Jones, a bankrupt, show him as transhipping tobacco among other trades and also as [F]ishmonger building a ship at Archangel.
