P_10433_1347 – Samuel Dwight
Merchant of New York. ‘Samuel Dwight’ was given as the co-owner of a voyage by the Charming Sally from London to the Gold Coast and New York in 1763, in partnership with Samuel Bridge. No will or London Gazette entry has been found for him or Samuel Bridge his co-investor. Thelma Wills Foote gives Bridge’s partner as ‘John Dwightwith’, who also has not been further traced. In 1761 a ship named the Charming Sally made a slaving voyage from Cowes, ending in Charleston, with the captain given as ‘Dwight, Joseph’.
