Malcolm Hamilton was shown as the co-owner with Alexander Simpson and the captain James Rogers of  a slaving voyage from London by the Active to Africa and Savannah in 1766. Malcolm Hamilton and Company, London merchants, were party to litigation in the 1760s involving counter-parties in Scotland in the textile business. This firm was connected with St Croix. The connection with the slavetrader is not definitive however.
