P_10433_1528 – Caldwell Craig
West India merchant and then early large-scale slave-owner on Tobago. Owner of a voyage by the Alexander from London to St Louis and Kingston in 1762. The ship made a return journey to Africa under the same captain and landed captive Africans at Barbados in 1764. Caldwell Craig assigned his estates (and the enslaved people attached to them) in 1794 for his creditors, implying financial distress. No will has been found for him to date.
