Sources: Of the five voyages attributed here to Peter Bostock as owner or co-owner, two in the Minories 1764-5 are given as Peter Bostock, while three between 1775 and 1777 in the Friendly Adventure, Mermaid and Gascoyne, are give simply as Bostock and could conceivably belong to Robert Bostock, the Liverpool slave-trader. The Friendly Adventure belonging to Bostock & Co. was shown in the 1776 Lloyd's Register as becoming the Gascoyn[e], captain Thoburn. Almost all Peter Bostock's voyages as captain and the two in the Minories 1764-5 were to Charleston, whereas the three voyages between 1775 and 1777 were to Jamaica, Americas and Martinique. Peter Bostock was Commander and co-owner of the privateer and slaver Black Prince in 1756, HCA 26/5/152, for which he is shown only as Captain in the TASTDB for a voyage ending in 1757. Voyage no. 78128 of the John from London to Anomabu and Dominica in 1774 is currently attributed to Robert Bostock based on the presence of other Liverpool slave-traders but a ship of the same name was owned at one stage by John Coghlan (q.v.), a co-owner of the voyage of the Gascoyne. The owner of voyage no. 77790 of the Magpie from London to Africa and Barbados in 1765 is shown as 'Bostwick' and might well be Bostock.
