Samuel Johnson (d. 1763), slave-trade captain and merchant connected with Samuel Touchet (q.v.), owner-captain with unnamed other owners of a slaving voyage from London by the Triton to Gold Coast and Kingston in 1754, captain of a slaving voyage from London by the Experiment to West Central Africa and Havana in 1762 for which again no ownership information is known, and captain-owner with the Touchets and others of slave-voyages from Liverpool in 1756 and 1760. A man of the same name was co-owner in two further voyages from Liverpool in 1760 and 1769, the latter certainly a different man.

Will of Samuel Johnson master of the Experiment on the coast of Africa of St Mary Magdalen Milk Street made in London 23/06/1758. He left £400 to William Maskall and ordered the rest of his estate divided among his brothers and sisters except William Tatlow, the share of his sister Sarah [presumably Tatlow's wife] to be for her use and William Tatlow to have no share of it. His executors were Samuel Touchet and William Maskall. [The attestation by William Blades 06/09/1763, who had known Johnson for five years, showed he had died in 'January last', and was the source of the description of Samuel Johnson as master of the Experiment].
