David Milligan (c. 1732-1798), London North American merchant and (as ‘Millegan’) shown as co-owner with ‘Clark’ of a slaving voyage from London by the Fox to the Gold Coast and Martinique in 1776. John Clarke and David Milligan were London merchants trading with Georgia and the West Indies; John Clarke was later declared lunatic with Milligan acting as his committee. David Milligan was described as ‘formerly an eminent West India merchant in London’ on his death in 1798.

The joint will of David Milligan, merchant in London of Dalskairth, Troqueer in the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright, Kincardineshire and his wife Mrs Marion Clark was made 07/07/1794. David Milligan's own will was made 21/06/1797. He left the income from his real estate in Scotland and personalty to his wife for life, and left 10 annuities totalling £92 10s p.a. subject to the condition that his wife's income should not fall below £365 p.a. He left monetary legacies of some £7000 to a range of individuals in Scotland and London, including £100 to Robert Milligan merchant of London and £200 to his son David; and £200 to Grant Allan his late partner.
