Lloyd's Register 1776 shows Prince Tom, now the Carolina Mermaid, captain Ben. Mason, owner Ben. Stead Rotdm Lo. The ship had two earlier voyages to Africa or Gambia and then to Savannah or Charleston in 1772 (voyage no. 78086, reportedly under Benjamin Jones) and 1773 (voyage no. 78124, under Benjamin Mason), again with no ownership information in TASTDB, which were probably also owned by Benjamin Stead.
