Owner of one voyage and co-owner of two more in partnership with William Allen (q.v.)between 1717 and 1719, all to Barbados in the Samuel[l] and all captained by Edmund Longbotham (given as Edward in two of the voyages). Samuel Betteress was party to litigation in 1720 as executor of Edmund Longbotham. The will of Samuel Betteress currier of London made in 1740 proved 12/07/1750 has no obvious connection, but Samuel Betteress was shown as a Currier as early as 1713. The Samuel Betteress dying in 1750 was buried aged 85 at St Mary the Virgin Walthamstow 10/05/1750; another Samuel Betteress had been buried at the same church 13/05/1738.
