D.O.B: D.O.D: 1748

Owner of a slaving voyage from London by the Cadogan in 1730 and co-owner of four more slaving voyages from London between 1726 and 1736 (including one in which he appears as ‘Henry Swale’). His will shows connections with the family of John Mitford (q.v.), through Neale’s grand-daughter Philadelphia Mitford. He was shown as director of London Assurance and insuring 50 enslaved people in 1728 on the Benedicta (which appears in the TASTDB as a Bristol voyage owned by Richard Henville). He was party to a suit as defendant v Bank of England with other London merchants in 1741.
