In a letter to Isaac Hobhouse (q.v.) dated Montserrat 04/01/1723, Patrick Goold [or Gould], one of the co-investors in the voyage of the Mary and Catherine, recorded the arrival of the ship with 102 captive Africans, and described the death of ‘Mr Skerrett’ following a fall from his horse after the two men had sailed with the ship to St Kitts to sell the enslaved people ‘at an extraordinary price’: ‘soe our partnership ended.’ ‘Mr Skerrett’ is indexed as Robert Skerrett in this source, and given as Robert Skerrett in a letter of 16/04/1723 from Patrick Goold (p. 93).
