https://www.historyofparliamentonline.org/volume/1715-1754/member/lansdell-john-1739: 'Lansdell, who bought the manor of Chamberhouse, in Crookham, Berks. in 1716 and the manor of Halsted [sic] in Kent from Edward Ashe before 1726, served under the elder Craggs at the Ordnance office. Returned for Liskeard by Craggs’s son-in-law, Edward Eliot, in 1722, he did not stand again. In 1738 he sold Halsted to Lord Vere Beauclerk for £22,989. He died 4 July 1739, leaving two-thirds of his fortune to his eldest son, John, and the remaining third to his second son, Chrysostom.' The entry carries no detail about Lansdell's family background.
A John Lansdale warehouseman was bankrupt in 1714 London Gazette 5279 20/11/1714 p. 2; his will was proved 13/03/1727. The will of a separate John Lansdale was proved 1764 making his cousin in Rotherhithe his heir. Neither will has evidence of a connection with the slave-voyage owner.
