P_10433_2180 – Joseph Hiscox
Co-owner of a slaving voyage from London by the Hiscox to West Central Africa and Charleston in 1738. The Hiscox made an earlier voyage to West Central Africa and Buenos Aires in 1735, when the owners included Thomas Hall and James Pearce, also co-owners in 1738. Joseph Hiscox (d. 1734) had been a merchant and slave-owner of London with Jamaica ‘property’: his son, also Joseph, was one of the executors of his will although then under 21, and has been inferred to have been the co-owner shown in 1738.
