Will of John Dalton Davy of St Mary Magdalen Bermondsey mariner 'being bound out on a voyage to the West Indies' made 06/02/1728. He left his estate to his wife Elizabeth if childless, otherwise to her for life and then to their children, with residuary interest to his brother George Davy after distributing his wife's apparel among her two sisters and after forgiveness of the indebtedness of his brother-in-law John Wilson. He made his wife Elizabeth sole executrix, failing whom his friend John Curryer [sp?]. His bequest of his residuary estate did not really work: there appears to be misdrafting, and a Memorandum or codicil of 11th March 1728 appears designed in part to address this. At the same time he replaced John Curryer with Thomas Bennett as his contingent executor. The attestation of the will by William Adams cooper of Southwark and Daniel Mather of Bermondsey mariner identified him as late of St Mary Magdalen and master of the Susanna at Jamaica deceased.
