P_10433_2264 – Peter Hambly senior.

D.O.B: D.O.D:

Peter Hambly [given in TASTDB simply as Hambly] was co-owner with the South Sea Co. of a slaving voyage from London by the Arabella to Madagascar and Buenos Aires in 1718. The will of Peter Hambly of Streatham made in 1722 and proved in 1723 refers to his debts from ‘the late unhappy times’, i.e. presumably the South Sea Bubble, but nevertheless showed him as the owner of substantial property in the City of London and elsewhere, and identified his son-in-law as Richard Pinnell (q.v.) and his sons as William and Peter Hambly.
