Thomas Collett (fl. 1723-1774), co-owner with unknown others of a voyage from London to the Gold Coast and Kingston Jamaica by the Albinia in 1752.  London merchant and mortgagee of ‘slave-property.’ Perry Gauci described Thomas Collett as William Beckford’s ‘general man-of-business’ and then business partner in Beckford, Collett & Evans in Nicholas Lane (1763-1767) and Collett & Co (1767-1772), and gave a brief background on Collett as previously a captain in the West India trade. Collett had been master of the Albinia in 1746-47 and co-owner of the ship with Solomon Ashley and William Beckford in 1757. To date no death-date or will has been found for him.
