Sources: Voyage no. 24517 of the Betsey from Charleston to St Kitts in 1760 had the same captain and owners as voyage no. 26017 to Charleston in 1759, which has no port of origin but is shown to have returned direct to Africa after bringing captive Africans to the Americas; voyage no. 26022 shows the Bance Island 'Charleston to Charleston' captured by the French after disembarking captive Africans, while voyage no. 77723 shows the same ship with the same owners and same captain London to Bance Island to Charleston arriving in 1760. Under his will of London and Lewisham, made 15/07/1763, Augustus Boyd left an annuity of £800 p.a. to his wife Lucy secured on his Castle or Fountain estate and enslaved people in St Peter Basseterre, St Kitts, together with his household goods in both London and Lewisham, and the leasehold of his house in Great George Street and an immediate £800, on condition that she renounced any further claim against his [and their] son John Boyd and also her claim to an annuity of £150 p.a. to which she was entitled under the will of her mother Elizabeth Henderson secured on estates left to John Boyd. He left legacies of £1000, £500 and £300 each to his own grandsons John and Augustus Boyd and grand-daughters Elizabeth, Lucy and Mary, all at 21. He left the Castle or Fountain estate to his son John Boyd, and an annuity of £200 p.a to his brother Paul Boyd; lump-sums of £300 to his sister Jane Elizabeth Pechell; £100 each to his nephews Samuel and Paul Pechell; £500 to his niece Mary Pechell with a further £300 if his sister Elizabeth [sic] Pechell should die in his lifetime; £430 to his brother-in-law Henry Marcell [sp?] and the latter's family; and £700 to other family and friends. After smaller legacies of £10 each to clerks and servants, he left £50 to the Governors of the London Hospital.
