Will of Michael James of [Haydon Square in the parish of] Trinity Minories proved 20/12/1786. He left his one-third interest in his plantation called Hamsted Hill 'with the negroes and appurtenances thereto belonging', his freehold in Haydon Square, and his freehold land at Brentford to his wife Susanna for life and then to his son, also named Michael James. He left an annuity of £150 p.a. to his daughter Susanna Varnham. His executors James Mangles and Charles Richardson were empowered under his will to buy 'negroes' and manage the Grenada estate as James himself had done.
