P_10433_2707 – James Bean
Slave ship captain (one simply as Bean) in three voyages from London 1775-1787 (two for James Margetson), all to Jamaica. James Bean appeared as a witness in the Slave Trade enquiry, as ‘Capt. James Bean, London, Cameroon’: in fact he and William Quarrier were petitioners in 1788 for redress against Captain Robert Bibby of the ship Molly belonging to Gregson & Co. of Liverpool, who had allegedly seized 30 individuals placed on the ship as pawns, leading to the detention of Bean and Quarrier in an interior town in the Cameroons. Not further traced to date.

Neither of these voyage appears in the TASTDB.
