P_10433_2862 – John Marman
Born: Unknown
Died: Unknown

John Marman (fl. 1791-1813), master mariner, owner-captain of five (and possibly of a sixth for which the owner is shown as ‘Hillman’) slaving voyages from London and slave-ship captain for 8 further voyages from London (of which six were for Calvert, Camden & King). John Marman was the partner of Thomas Edwards in 1813 when it appears that Thomas Edwards & Co. were mortgagees of an estate (and the enslaved people attached to it) in Demerara and Essequibo called Kensington: the 1802 slaving voyage by the Bruce Grove under John Marman as captain-owner was co-owned by ‘Edwards.’ The will of John Marman was made in 1813 and proved in 1822.
