P_10433_2974 – G Gibbons

D.O.B: D.O.D:

Shown as sole owner of a slaving voyage from London by the Eagle to Iles de Los and Charleston in 1783.  Detail on this voyage drawn from the case of Pashley v Hartley in 1793 indicates that the vessel was chartered by ‘Gibbon’, a bankrupt, on behalf of [Samuel] Hartley, the London-based Liverpool slave-trader. Possibly George Gibbons, merchant of Black Raven Court, Seething Lane, bankrupt in 1784.
