P_10433_2988 – Edward Morse
Edward Morse (d. 1794), formerly Chief Justice at Senegambia, was co-owner with Joseph Morse (q.v.) of a slaving voyage from London by the Elizabeth to Gambia and Jamaica in 1788. He died in Jamaica in 1794. Although given as ‘Edward More’ in TASTDB, Lloyd’s Register 1789 shows Morse & Co. as owners of the Elizabeth, captain Thompson, built in America 1774, all details consistent with the slave voyage in TASTDB. Edward Morse was formerly Chief Justice at Senegambia, and died in Jamaica in 1794. He was the nephew of John Morse of Jamaica. To date nothing has been traced of his co-investor, Joseph More or Morse.
