3.1 million enslaved people trafficked to the British colonies

John Middleton was co-owner with Robert Smith, Rowland Webster and William Christopher (together with William Welbank, George Sharpe and George Brown, who were partners in London as ‘brokers’ [insurance brokers]) in a slaving voyage from London by the Francis and Harriott to the Gold Coast and Grenada in 1791.  He has not been further identified , but there was a Stockton-on-Tees connection among his co-owners William Christopher and Rowland Webster.
