P_10433_3110 – Milligan

D.O.B: D.O.D:

‘Milligan’ was co-owner with Richard Miles (q.v.) of a slaving voyage from London by the Little Jane to Lagos, Onim and Demerara in 1804. The Little Jane was shown as owned by ‘Milligan’ in Lloyd’s Register (Underwriters) 1801 sailing London-Jamaica, and in Lloyd’s Register (Shipowners) 1802, where the captain is amended to W. Royal, sailing London-Africa: later (e.g. in Lloyd’s Register (Underwriters) 1808) it was shown under Mills as owner, presumably in fact Miles. This was possibly Robert Milligan, the London West India merchant and prime mover in the development of the West India Docks, but the connection has not been established.
