P_10433_3152 – Richard Muilman Trench Chiswell
‘Muilman’ was shown as the owner of a voyage by the Matty to Anomabu and Montevideo in 1796. This almost certainly referred to Richard Muilman & Co., London merchants of 46 Old Broad Street, whose principal partner Richard Muilman Trench Chiswell MP committed suicide in 1797 on the collapse of the firm, which had speculated in the West Indies, especially in St Domingue. He has an entry in the ODNB as ‘merchant banker and antiquary.’
