History: a slave ship, bound from Liverpool to Charleston via the Congo River, laden with rum, brandy, dry goods, 5 enslaved people, gunpowder, ammunition and other articles for trading on the coast of Africa; taken on 27 August 1806 by the privateer Prince of Orange (Thomas Finlay commanding), and brought into Surinam River; HCA 42/419/480 Description: Manuscript prize appeal No 480, from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Barbados, filed in 1807. Captured ship: Golfinho (master Manuel Francisco Flamante). Nationality: Portuguese. History: a slave ship, bound from Lisbon via Luanda and Cabinda, Angola [and then to the Americas], laden with 500 enslaved people and goods for the African trade; taken on 11 September 1806 by the privateer Prince of Orange (Thomas Finlay commanding), and brought into first Surinam, and then Barbados.
