Originally connected with Houstoun & Co. and active in the Caribbean on their behalf, then partner with William Gammell and Alexander Innes until 1792 under Turner, Gammell & Co. and thereafter with Alexander Innes as Turner & Co.

The will of Coll Turner made 03/06/1810 with a codicil of 1812 and proved [in Tobago] 09/09/1812 was summarised by Vere Langford Oliver, who shows Turner leaving monetary legacies of £1500 currency, and his three estates Kings Bay, Friendsfield and Belvidere in trust to fund £50 p.a. to each of his sisters Janet and Margaret, with the residue to the children of the two women and of a third sister Ann who 'died many years ago.' Janet Mcfarlane nee Turner's son Walter McFarlane 'carpenter' of Luss Dunbartonshire and others on 21/03/1817 sold their interest in Coll Turner's property in St Vincent, Tobago and Antigua for £10,000 to Alex. Innes of London.
