Will of Humphrey Hill merchant made 01/05/1739. He rehearsed and confirmed his marriage settlements with his first wife under which £1000 was invested in the Rivetts estate in Essex and with his second wife under which £570 was invested in South Sea Co. stock and £570 in South Sea Co. annuities. He left his son Joseph Hill his property in Wine Court, Golden Lane, and his daughter Susanna his copyhold estate at Brook Green, Hammersmith subject to his wife's life interest. He left land outside Philadelphia, shares in the Kennet Navigation and shares in the Smelting Company in trust to be sold with the caveat that the share the Kennet Navigation were 'improveable.' In a codicil he left leasehold land at Tower Hill to his daughter Susannah, and made his wife's 1/3rd interest in his residual estate a life interest only.
