Under the will of Anthony Calvert of the Crescent, City of London made 11/11/1808, he left his real estate at Broadstairs in the Isle of Thanet and elsewhere in Britain in trust (his trustees were his friend Thomas King of Brunswick Square; his nephew and partner Thomas Morton; and his friend William Greaves of Coleman Street)to be sold by them and the proceeds to be combined with his personal estate to fund the purchase of sufficient 'Real or Government Securities at interest' to yield £150 p.a. payable as an annuity to Mrs Sarah Cambell of Royal Hill Greenwich. He left £10 p.a. to Susannah Manley the daughter of the late Robert Manley of Swan Street; £5000 to Thomas Morton; £3500 to William Hutton of Lawrence Lane, husband of Calvert's niece Eleanor, together with the £1100 that Calvert had lent Hutton in 1801; £500 to Joseph Partridge of Fenchurch Street; £200 to Antoinetta Whitelock, daughter of George Whitelock of Savage Gardens; £200 to the Elder Brethren of Trinity House, with a mourning ring for each merchant brethren; £20 to his old friend Captain Richard Owen; £500 to his godson Anthony Calvert King, son of his late partner Thomas King; £100 to Thomas King himself, 'with which sum I am sure he will be satisfied he having a large fortune to his obtaining which I have the pleasure of considering that I have in some small degree contributed'; £20 to John Warren of Limehouse, cooper; £50 to James Bolton of Limehouse 'many years employed by me for his faithful service'. He left his residuary estate in to be divided in thirds, one each to Thomas Morton and William Hutton; and the last third to be divided, one half to William Greaves and the other in trust to pay the interest equally between Calvert's nieces Susannah Torry widow of St Martin in the Fields and Susannah Brewer [?] also of St Martin in the Fields for their lives and the principal then to Susannah Torry's two daughters. He allowed Thomas Morton time to pay out Calvert's share in their partnership, staggering the payments over 48 months. He specified [inconsistently] that William Hutton should have his share of the estate within 12 months to allow him to carry on his trade with facility. In a codicil of the same date he added a legacy of £500 to William Greaves over and above his share of the estate.
