Samuel Houblon
London merchant (d. 1723), son of Sir John Houblon and co-owner of a slaving voyage from London by the Drake to Lourenco Marques and Madagascar and then Barbados/Port Royal in 1716. The Drake made a second voyage under the same captain in 1718 for which no ownership information is known. The will of Samuel Houblon contained minor monetary legacies to his co-owners on the voyage, Francis Sitwell (q.v.) and John Hyde (q.v.), as well as more substantial legacies of property and money to St Thomas’ Hospital.

Will of Samuel Houblon of London merchant made 03/03/1714. He added an annuity of £100 p.a. to the annuity of £120 p.a. his brother Peter Houblon had left to their sister Elizabeth Littell. He left his freehold property in Budge Row and his leasehold in South Street Edmonton to his wife Mary for life, and then to the Governors of St Thomas' Hospital, to whom he also left £1000. He left further monetary legacies of some £1000 to relatives and to dissenting charities, and £100 plus £10 for mourning to Francis Sitwell; and £10 mourning to each of Sir Peter Delme; Sir Robert Nightingale; Francis Chamberlayne; John Hyde of Poplar; William Payne of Clothworkers Hall; Richard Perry in Leadenhall; and James Colebrooke.
